Frequently Asked Questions

What are veneers?

Veneers are thin shells of porcelain that we permanently bond to the front side of your teeth. They are used in cosmetic dentistry to alter your smile's appearance, and the process usually takes two dental visits to complete. First, we'll prepare the teeth that are getting veneers by carefully removing a thin layer of enamel. This step helps the veneers blend in with your other teeth when we place them. Once your teeth are prepared, we'll take impressions and send the molds to our off-site lab where they'll create your custom veneers. When we get your veneers in from our lab, you'll come in for your final appointment, and we'll bond them to your teeth!

What are veneers used for?

Veneers can be used for a variety of cosmetic purposes, including:

  • Altering the shape of teeth
  • Changing the color of teeth
  • Closing small gaps between teeth
  • Covering a chipped or cracked tooth
  • & More

Does professional teeth whitening hurt?

Professional teeth whitening is a safe way to achieve a dramatically brighter smile. However, the whitening gel can cause mild tooth sensitivity and irritation. While these side effects may occur, they're temporary and shouldn't last longer than a few hours after your treatment. If needed, you can take an over-the-counter pain reliever, such as ibuprofen, to help ease any discomfort you may feel.

How long does a professional whitening treatment last?

Teeth whitening is not a permanent treatment; it gradually fades over time. However, the length of time your whitening lasts depends on a variety of factors, including your lifestyle, oral health habits, diet, and more. With proper care, your whitened teeth can last for a year or longer.
